Fire gutted the home of Rick and Dana Simmons Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called at 5:30 a.m. Saturday to 813 Clark Street, and found the home fully engulfed, and fire and thick smoke rolling from the front and sides of the house.
Canton Fire Chief Jeff McReynolds said it appears the cause of the fire was a lighted candle falling behind a sofa.
The two Simmons were the only ones home at the time of the blaze. Their children were absent at the time of the blaze.
Three pets were lost in the fire.
